We had a high of 84° and a low of 35° last month.
Rainfall was 1.48" . . . low!
The highest wind gust was 35 mph.

All readings but the rainfall were average for that time of year.

April & May 2009

I have no 1st of the month picture for April, and I finally figured out why: it was RIGHT when we returned from Tom's accident & convalescence in Arizona . . . AND then the April Fool's Day blizzard fell.

But, at any rate, the high for April was 72°, and the low was 16°. Rainfall totaled 2.70", and the highest wind gust was 29 mph.

After a wet early spring, things started drying up in May. The temperature was high to moderate, with the mercury topping out at 85° and bottoming out at just 30°. The means that the last frost of the year came in this month (unfortunately, I don't have the precise date.) Rainfall was only 1.46", and the wind was up at 43 mph.

March 2009

March's low temperature was -18°,
and I missed recording the high.

The strongest wind gust for the month was 37 mph.

Precipitation, in the form of both early rains and melting snow, was just shy of ½".

February 2009

February's high and low were 37.4° and -19°, respectively.

The highest wind gust was 48 mph:
the highest we've yet registered here on Swamp River Ridge!

January 2009

The low in January was -21°, and the high was 27.9°.

The highest wind gust was 36 mph.

All pretty average for that time of year.

December 2008

December was mild at both the beginning and end of the month with a high of 32.5°. The low of -20.7° came smack in the middle of the month on the 15th. The highest recorded wind gust was 33 mph . . . which seems to be the magic speed here at Swamp River Ridge.

October & November 2008

By overwhelming majority (okay, so it was just 4 - 0), this is the view that won as the next series of 'A Year In Pictures'. Here is the first installment. Enjoy!

October brought a high of 64.2° and a low of 23°. The year's first frost fell right away on the 2nd of the month. Precipitation for the month totaled 2.05", which is average. The highest wind gust was clocked at 34 mph.

November's high & low temps were a rousing 63° (!!!) on the 4th and then plummeted down to a low of 2.8° mid-month! We got a good amount of precipitation for so late in the year: 2.89". The highest wind gust was 30 mph.

August & September

I missed August's picture and post, but this shot shows how the river looked at the beginning of September.

August's high & low temperatures were 88.3° and 39°, respectively. 1.81" of rain fell which measure on the dry - to average end of the spectrum. The highest wind gust was 31 mph.

September brought a high of 80° at the beginning of the month, and then the mercury dropped to the low of 35.4°. Rainfall totalled 3.30" (average), and the highest recorded wind gust was 33 mph.

June & July

I lost track of time (imagine that!) and neglected to take a June photo, but July's shows the lush greenery and high waters caused by the spring rains.

June's high temperature of 80.6° in the shade came on the 26th. The low was 38°. Rainfall for the month was 7.09" (very wet!), and the highest wind gust we saw was 33 mph.

July, on the other hand, brought a high temperature of 84.4° (although that seems low, and I question the reading) and a low of 46°. Rainfall for the month totalled 3.30": average. The highest wind gust was 38 mph.

May

A wet, rainy spring led to HIGH waters come May 1st!

Highs for the month were in the high 60s, and the low was 26°.

The highest wind gust here at Swamp River Ridge was 25 mph, and we measured 3.63" of rain in May . . . which was on the average/low side.

April

There was still plenty of snow on April 7th!
